Trace One and Carbon Maps integrate PLM data to automate Product Carbon Footprint and LCA for food and beverage
finance.yahoo.comTrace One and Carbon Maps have announced a partnership that connects Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) data to Carbon Maps' sustainability platform. Food manufacturers and retailers using Trace One PLM can now calculate Product Carbon Footprints and run Life Cycle Assessments directly from existing recipe, ingredient, and packaging data, without manual re-entry. The integration aims to bring environmental impact assessment earlier into product development, so companies can compare ingredient origins, farming practices, packaging formats, and production energy mixes while products are still being designed. Carbon Maps says it has calculated more than two million product and packaging LCAs and maintains over 34,000 emission factors across more than 100 sourcing origins. The joint offering also supports France's voluntary environmental labeling scheme, Le Coût Environnemental, using the government's Ecobalyse methodology. Carbon Maps previously deployed that methodology for around 6,000 E.Leclerc private-label products. For food companies facing retailer requests for product-level environmental data, this type of PLM-to-LCA workflow could reduce the administrative burden of compliance and sourcing analysis.
