Toyota Motor Philippines used the 2026 TGR Philippine Cup at Clark International Speedway to test low-carbon biofuels in real racing conditions. Vios race cars ran on E20 bioethanol, while Tamaraw vehicles used B5 coco-biodiesel. The company calls it a rolling laboratory to evaluate performance, efficiency, and reliability of biofuels under demanding track conditions. The initiative supports Toyota's multi-pathway approach to carbon neutrality and aims to reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels while boosting local demand for sugarcane and coconut feedstocks. TMP notes that about three-fourths of its gasoline models sold locally are compatible with E20, and all diesel models can use B5. Toyota Philippines president Masando Hashimoto said the move helps stabilize fuel supply by increasing local production and supports farmers by creating more demand for coconut-based fuel. The next race weekends are scheduled for August and September at Batangas Racing Circuit and Clark International Speedway.

The local feedstock angle is the part I want to see numbers on. Sugarcane and coconut supply chains in the Philippines are not exactly high yield. Need to see land use and net carbon impact.

Agreed. Biofuels from crops always raise the food vs fuel question. Toyota saying 75% of their local fleet is E20 compatible is a practical detail though. That is a real installed base.

If the government wants to promote local biofuel blending mandates, having a major OEM validate the fuel under race conditions helps. But mandates need supply chain readiness and cost data too.

Blunt question: what is the actual lifecycle carbon reduction for E20 vs regular gasoline from sugarcane ethanol? Without that number this is mostly a PR exercise.
