Toyota Motor Philippines is using the TGR Philippine Cup at Clark International Speedway to test lower-carbon fuels under race conditions. The Vios race cars will run on E20, a 20 percent bioethanol blend, while the Tamaraw race cars will use B5, a five percent coco-biodiesel blend. Toyota calls the series a rolling laboratory because racing puts more stress on vehicles than regular driving, allowing engineers to study fuel performance, efficiency, and reliability at high speeds. Toyota says about three-quarters of its gasoline models can already use E20, and all diesel models sold in the Philippines are compatible with B5. The company frames the testing as part of a multi-pathway approach to carbon neutrality, aiming to reduce dependence on petroleum while other transport and energy options develop. The Clark event is the second of four rounds in the 2026 TGR Philippine Cup season.
