Toyota Motor Philippines is using its TGR Philippine Cup race series as a real-world testbed for low-carbon biofuels. During Race Weekend 2 at Clark International Speedway, the Vios and Tamaraw race cars will run on B5 (coco-biodiesel) and E20 (bio-ethanol) blends. The goal is to gather data on engine performance, efficiency, and durability under extreme racing conditions to help accelerate the adoption of these fuels in the broader Philippine automotive market. The initiative supports Toyota's multi-pathway strategy toward carbon neutrality, which includes electrification, hybrids, hydrogen, and renewable fuels. Toyota notes that 75% of its gasoline models are already E20-compatible, and all its diesel vehicles support B5. By testing these fuels in a high-stress environment, the company aims to prove their viability for everyday drivers and reduce dependence on petroleum. Race Weekend 2 runs from July 9 to 11, 2026, with free public admission on the final day. The event is part of a four-weekend championship that also introduces the new Tamaraw Racing Class, featuring the locally built Toyota Tamaraw one-make race car.
