Toyota Kentucky has started production of the RAV-4 hybrid at its Georgetown plant, the company's largest North American manufacturing facility. The plant also broke ground on a new advanced paint facility that Toyota says will reduce carbon emissions by 30% and save about 1.5 million gallons of water annually. Governor Andy Beshear noted the expansion shows manufacturing success in Kentucky, with Toyota producing models like the Camry, RAV-4, and the new EV Highlander at the site. Toyota Kentucky President Kerry Creech credited the workforce and announced a $500,000 grant to Bluegrass Community and Technical College for a new regional workforce training facility. The move adds hybrid vehicle production capacity and improves the environmental footprint of the paint process, which is often an energy-intensive part of auto manufacturing. Toyota currently employs nearly 10,000 people at the Kentucky plant.
