TotalEnergies has approved a $1.2 billion investment for the Mirny wind farm in Kazakhstan. The project will integrate 1 GW of wind capacity with a 600 MWh battery storage system to stabilize power delivery and support the country's 2030 renewable energy targets. The project is a joint venture involving Samruk Energy and KazMunayGas, with significant backing from the EBRD. Despite the push into clean energy, TotalEnergies continues to navigate substantial legal disputes and environmental fines related to its oil operations in the region.
