TotalEnergies ENEOS expands rooftop solar for Ceres chocolate factory in Indonesia, adding 1.4 MWp capacity

TotalEnergies ENEOS completed Phase 2 of a rooftop solar project for PT. Perusahaan Industri Ceres at its Bandung factory. The new phase adds 1.4 MWp of capacity with around 2,400 solar panels, bringing the combined system to 3.6 MWp. The installation is expected to generate 4,630 MWh of clean electricity annually, covering about 12% of the factory's power needs. The project was delivered under a 15 year agreement where TotalEnergies ENEOS handles development, financing, construction, and operation, while Ceres pays only for the electricity produced with no upfront costs. The combined system is estimated to reduce carbon emissions by roughly 4,200 tons per year. This expansion follows the first 2.2 MWp phase completed in September 2024. The project supports Indonesia's goal of reaching net zero emissions by 2060 or sooner. TotalEnergies ENEOS is a 50/50 joint venture between TotalEnergies and ENEOS, aiming to develop 2 GW of decentralized solar capacity across Asia over the next five years.

4,200 tons per year from 3.6 MWp. That math works out to about 1,167 tons per MWp annually. Depends on local grid emission factor but sounds reasonable for Indonesia where coal is still heavy.

12% of factory power from solar. Not huge but it's on site and reduces grid reliance. The 15 year PPA structure is common for these deals. Would like to see the actual PPA price vs local grid rate.

Phase 1 was 2.2 MWp in Sept 2024, Phase 2 adds 1.4 MWp. That's a decent ramp. Chocolate factory using solar to cut costs and emissions. Good example of manufacturing decarbonization in Southeast Asia.
