Toshiba Industrial Products and Systems is integrating biomass polycarbonate and epoxy resins into its molded transformers. These materials, supplied by Mitsui Chemicals, meet the 2026 Top Runner energy efficiency standards while maintaining the durability and safety required for high-voltage equipment. The transition uses a mass balance approach, allowing bio-based raw materials to be mixed with fossil fuels during production. This method enables the decarbonization of complex industrial plastics without changing the physical properties of the final product.
