Toshiba is presenting a full suite of power infrastructure solutions at Asia Sustainable Energy Week 2026 in Bangkok, covering carbon capture, transmission and distribution, battery storage, and digital monitoring. The company aims to help utilities and industries in the region integrate more renewables while keeping the grid stable and lowering emissions. Key exhibits include an integrated carbon capture system for existing thermal plants, SCiB lithium-ion batteries for grid balancing and peak demand, and the EtaPRO digital platform for real-time performance monitoring. Toshiba is also showing advanced protection relays and transmission line automation to improve grid reliability as energy sources become more diverse. The event runs from July 1 to 3 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. Toshiba will be at Booth X11 with interactive displays and technical experts available to discuss how these technologies fit into real-world decarbonization plans across Asia.

Toshiba bringing carbon capture to the table at ASEW is interesting. They claim it works with existing thermal plants. Would like to see capture rates and cost per tonne though.

The SCiB battery part caught my eye. High rate performance and safety are nice but capacity and cycle life matter more for grid storage. Any numbers on that?

Transmission line automation and protection relays are the boring but critical stuff. If the grid can't handle variable renewables, nothing else works. Good they are showing that.

Carbon capture on thermal plants is a tough sell without strong carbon pricing. Thailand has no carbon tax yet. So who is the buyer for this tech?

They mention CCU as an option. That usually means selling CO2 for industrial use. Market is small. CCS pipeline infrastructure in Asia is basically nonexistent.
