Tianjin Port carbon neutral smart terminal praised by international delegation

Tianjin Port's Beijiang port area now hosts the world's first fully intelligent and carbon neutral container terminal, according to a China Daily report. The terminal at Berth C runs entirely on electricity from an integrated wind solar storage system, achieving 100 percent clean power and carbon neutrality certification. It uses 5G, Beidou satellite navigation, AI, and autonomous vehicles to cut cargo loading times by 26.2 percent and improve vessel berthing efficiency by 28 percent compared to traditional operations. A delegation of officials and experts from eight countries including Cuba, Austria, Gambia, Laos, and Cote d'Ivoire visited the terminal during a four day trip focused on China's green development and technology innovation. Gambia's vice president noted the terminal's ability to increase throughput while maintaining zero emissions and low noise. The group also toured the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City, a jointly developed project with over 12 million square meters of green space and a digital governance platform that monitors environmental data in real time. The visit highlighted how digital technologies and renewable energy can work together to cut carbon emissions while keeping operations efficient.
