Thyssenkrupp Polysius has created a new subsidiary, Thyssenkrupp Calvion, to speed up the development and deployment of carbon reduction technologies. The company will focus on oxyfuel applications, green quicklime production, and phosphogypsum recycling to help energy intensive industries lower their emissions. While the new unit targets scalable carbon capture and direct air capture, the move comes as other parts of the Thyssenkrupp group, such as its electrolysis division, adjust plans due to slower hydrogen market demand. This shift highlights the ongoing challenge of balancing long term decarbonization goals with immediate market realities.
