The Andersons to Acquire Harvestone Low Carbon Partners for $915M, Adding Ethanol Capacity and Carbon Capture
morningstar.comThe Andersons is buying Harvestone Low Carbon Partners for $915 million, adding three ethanol plants in North Dakota and Indiana with about 215 million gallons of annual capacity. That brings the combined platform to roughly 730 million gallons. Around half of the purchase price is tied to expected 45Z and 45Q tax credit cash flows, which shows how much of the value in ethanol now depends on carbon policy, not just fuel sales. Harvestone brings operating carbon capture and sequestration infrastructure, including Class VI CO2 injection wells. That is still rare in the ethanol industry, where many CCS projects are in development. The deal is expected to close in late 2026 or early 2027 and to be immediately accretive to earnings and cash flow.
