Thailand is strengthening its path to net zero 2050 through a new public-private initiative called 'ONE MIND', led by the Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA). On its 20th anniversary, TCMA announced 'The NEXT Chapter to Net Zero 2050', a strategic push across five priority areas including policy, technology, energy transition, circular economy, and digitalization. The initiative builds on the Thailand 2050 Net Zero Cement and Concrete Roadmap and positions the cement industry as a Climate Solution Partner. The announcement was backed by Thailand's Minister of Industry and senior officials from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. They emphasized coordinated action across sectors and highlighted existing collaboration with UNIDO, GIZ, and the Government of Canada to deploy low-carbon technologies. TCMA also continues the SARABURI SANDBOX, a low-carbon city pilot that tests policy tools, green financing, and tech solutions in a real-world setting before scaling. For carbon market watchers, this is a concrete example of how a hard-to-abate sector is aligning with national climate targets. The focus on measurable, scalable outcomes and multi-stakeholder governance is worth following, especially if the sandbox model produces replicable results for other emerging economies.
