Thailand Industrial Estates Get a Roadmap for Energy Transition and Carbon Cuts
kaohooninternational.comA GIZ-led collaboration with Thailand's Industrial Estate Authority and B.Grimm Power has released a strategic roadmap to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in industrial estates. The plan focuses on two pilot sites, Laem Chabang and Bangkadi, and includes phased measures like energy efficiency improvements, renewable energy adoption, and infrastructure upgrades. The roadmap also emphasizes long-term needs such as commercial readiness, investment, and supportive policy frameworks. The initiative aims to create replicable models for the industrial sector, balancing reliability, affordability, and decarbonization. Funding comes from Germany's International Climate Initiative, and the project supports Thailand's carbon neutrality goals across renewable energy, transport, industrial mitigation, biomass, and climate finance. Area-based collaboration among developers, energy providers, manufacturers, and financiers is highlighted as key to overcoming operational barriers.
