Thailand has reduced over 3.8 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent since 2019 by switching to low-carbon hydraulic cement. The cement industry replaced clinker, the most carbon-intensive ingredient, with alternatives while maintaining structural standards. This move puts Thailand ahead of its NDC roadmap and shows how industrial process changes can deliver real emissions cuts. The shift was driven by collaboration between 34 partners and six ministries, covering policy, standards, and market adoption. Hydraulic cement now meets Thai Industrial Standard TIS 2594 and is used widely in infrastructure, public buildings, and homes. The approach offers a model for other heavy industries looking to decarbonize at scale.
