Thailand has reduced over 3.8 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent since 2019 by switching to hydraulic cement, a low-carbon alternative that uses less clinker. The shift was driven by a public-private partnership involving 34 partners and six ministries, and it hit emissions targets years ahead of the national NDC roadmap. Hydraulic cement now meets Thai Industrial Standard TIS 2594 and is used in infrastructure, public buildings, and residential projects. The approach offers a replicable model for other industrial sectors aiming to cut process emissions without sacrificing performance.
