Thailand Cement Industry Launches Net Zero 2050 Roadmap with Public-Private Partnership
thailand-business-news.comThailand's cement industry, through the Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA), has announced a new strategic initiative called 'The NEXT Chapter to Net Zero 2050.' The plan focuses on five priority areas for emissions reduction and positions the cement sector as a climate solution partner. The initiative aligns with Thailand's national goal of reaching net zero by 2050 and involves collaboration between the Ministry of Industry, environmental agencies, and international partners like UNIDO and GIZ. The announcement came during TCMA's 20th anniversary event, which included government officials and industry leaders. The Minister of Industry emphasized a 'ONE MIND' approach to coordinate across sectors. Key elements include enabling policies, regulatory frameworks, and economic instruments to support industrial decarbonization. The cement industry is also working on sustainable construction solutions alongside direct emissions cuts. This public-private partnership model aims to translate policy commitments into measurable outcomes. The roadmap builds on Thailand's existing cement and concrete decarbonization pathway, with an emphasis on deploying low-carbon technologies and strengthening ESG standards across the sector.
