Tesla has filed for tax incentives on a proposed $10.1 billion solar manufacturing campus in Fort Bend County, Texas. The project, named Project Crystal Sun, would cover about 3,050 acres and could create nearly 10,000 permanent jobs, with commercial production targeted for early 2029. The facility would handle ingot, wafer, cell, and module production, making it a vertically integrated solar plant, a rare setup in the United States. The filing is still an early step, and Tesla says it is considering other sites. If built, the plant would significantly boost domestic solar manufacturing capacity, aligning with Tesla's stated goal of 100 GW of annual solar capacity by 2028.
