Basically saying they can build it but won't because they are chasing Robotaxis and robots. The tech is there, but the business case isn't a priority right now.

Performance is great for marketing, but it does nothing for mass adoption. I wonder if the energy draw of a tri-motor setup in a smaller frame would actually hurt the efficiency numbers enough to make it a hard sell.

Exactly. The cost to re-engineer the rear subframe for a third motor just to shave off a second of 0-60 time is a waste of labor when they have bigger production bottlenecks to solve.
