fortune.comTerraton, a biochar platform focused on agricultural waste, has issued its first carbon removal credits through Isometric. The credits come from EcoFix Kenya, a nut processor in Nanyuki that turns nut shells into biochar. The company says the facility went from final investment decision to issued credits in 14 months, and it has signed agreements covering up to 97,240 tonnes of carbon removal with Climeworks Solutions, Climate Impact Partners, Carbonfuture, CUR8, and Terraset. Terraton also secured $1.5 million in debt financing from HSBC Ventures and plans a $25 million pooled vehicle to fund around 20 more facilities. The next project, built with Tupande by One Acre Fund, is being commissioned in Sagana, Kenya. Terraton has 28 additional MOUs signed and more than 30 sites in the pipeline across Africa, South America, South Asia, and Southeast Asia.
