San Francisco startup Terradot is scaling enhanced rock weathering by spreading crushed rock powder on farmland. This process accelerates the natural chemical reaction that binds atmospheric carbon dioxide into soil and water systems, turning a millennial process into one that takes only years. Backed by Google and Microsoft, the company is currently testing the method in Brazil and the southeastern United States. The goal is to establish precise measurement of sequestered carbon and optimize supply chains by sourcing rock from quarries near application sites.
