Terra is expanding its low carbon building materials by constructing a full scale manufacturing plant in Texas, scheduled for mid 2027. The company uses silicate rock to create supplementary cementitious materials that integrate into existing production systems without requiring expensive infrastructure overhauls. Their current product can replace up to 50 percent of traditional Portland cement. Terra is also developing a full replacement for Portland cement and planning six additional facilities across North America to scale its emissions reduction technology.

Interesting to see a drop in cement emissions that doesn't require a total kiln rebuild. Most carbon capture for cement is too expensive or slow to deploy, so a material swap is a more practical path for the short term.
