Ternium to start low-carbon steel mill in Nuevo Leon using electric arc furnace and direct iron reduction

It will use an electric arc furnace combined with direct iron reduction to cut emissions. This is a concrete step toward decarbonizing the steel supply chain for automakers in Mexico. Isaac Rosas, Ternium's automotive account manager, said the company works directly with OEMs on both steel supply and technology development. The focus is on electromobility and sustainable mobility. The announcement was made at the Proveedor Automotriz event, where Ternium also highlighted its broader sustainability projects and regional value chain integration.
