TEG Launches Automated Scope 3 Emissions Calculations for 3 Million Annual Freight Loads

TEG, a UK-based carrier sourcing platform, has introduced automated CO2e emissions estimation for logistics providers. The tool covers over 3 million loads per year and uses the UK Government's DESNZ Greenhouse Gas Conversion Factors 2025 methodology. This gives hauliers, 3PLs, and shippers per-load carbon data from the point a load is booked, including subcontracted operations that were previously a blind spot for emissions reporting. The tool addresses a key gap in Scope 3 reporting. On ad-hoc freight where carriers change from job to job, shipment-level emissions data has not existed before. By integrating carbon data with TEG's payment and operational systems, the platform helps mid-market logistics providers respond to tightening reporting obligations under the UK's new Sustainability Reporting Standards. The data can be segmented by carrier, route, and vehicle type, supporting more precise company-wide reporting. This development is significant for the logistics sector, where empty running accounts for about 30% of haulage vehicle miles. By making emissions visible at the load level, TEG's tool enables operators to identify inefficiencies and reduce waste. The move reflects growing demand from large shippers and retailers who increasingly require shipment-level emissions data as a procurement condition.
