Technip Energies has selected Gpi Tanks XL to construct 22 stainless steel storage tanks for the SkyNRG Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) project. Technip is picking up the hardware side for SkyNRG. 22 stainless tanks is a decent amount of storage for an SAF site. It is a small piece of the puzzle but necessary for the actual delivery of the fuel.
The tank count is fine, but I want to see the total volume and throughput specs. Storage is only useful if the logistics chain can actually move the fuel out of the facility without bottlenecks.
Stainless steel is the right call for longevity, but the labor for installing 22 tanks of this scale is where the budget usually blows up. Hope they have a tight timeline on the onsite assembly.
Interesting to see the physical build moving forward. The real question is whether the SAF credits and procurement rules in this region are stable enough to justify this level of capital expenditure.
