TCMC launches Carbonix Materials to build US supply chain for graphene and battery materials

Taiwan Carbon Materials Corporation (TCMC) has launched Carbonix Materials as its US subsidiary, based in Binghamton, New York. The move aims to establish a domestic supply chain for graphene, advanced battery materials, and thermal management products used in lithium-ion batteries and electronics. TCMC holds over 45 patents and already supplies customers in Asia and Europe. The US expansion is driven by tariffs and domestic sourcing rules under the Inflation Reduction Act, which are pushing battery material production away from China-centered supply chains. Carbonix will initially export TCMC's materials to build a US customer base. Once it secures more than ten key customers, the company plans to build a production facility near Binghamton. TCMC says its manufacturing process uses only electricity and water and generates no waste. The subsidiary is working with local partners including TYFAST and LiBama Power, and collaborating with University at Buffalo researchers on SBIR grant applications. The move signals growing momentum for onshoring critical battery material supply chains in the US.
