The Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA) has announced a new strategy called "The NEXT Chapter to Net Zero 2050" built around five implementation pillars. These include carbon policy frameworks, low-carbon technologies like calcined clay and CCUS, clean energy and alternative fuels, circular economy co-processing in cement kilns, and digitalization with AI. The initiative aligns with Thailand's 2050 Net Zero Cement and Concrete Roadmap and includes the SARABURI SANDBOX pilot project for testing innovations before scaling nationally. Cement production accounts for roughly 7-8% of global CO2 emissions, making industry-specific roadmaps like this one critical for national climate targets. TCMA frames the shift as moving from a traditional producer to a "Climate Solution Partner." The real test will be whether the 5 engines translate into measurable emissions reductions and whether the policy engine, including carbon pricing and green procurement, creates enough investment certainty to deploy CCUS and alternative materials at scale.
