Classic grid interconnection bottleneck. You can build the plant on time but if the grid can't deliver power the whole timeline slips. This is going to keep happening as more industrial loads try to electrify.

Exactly. The National Grid connection offer was signed in May 2024 for a late 2027 energization date. That's already a 3.5 year lead time for a single industrial connection. The system is not set up for rapid industrial decarbonization.

Worth noting the UK government put 500 million pounds into this project. If grid delays push commissioning past 2028 that subsidy starts looking less effective. Policy needs to address grid capacity as much as capital grants for equipment.

5 million tonnes of CO2 per year reduction hanging on a grid connection timeline. That's a lot of emissions that stay in the atmosphere for every extra month of delay. The carbon math here is brutal.
