Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL) has commissioned the 100.8 MW Jewali Wind Project in Maharashtra's Dharashiv district. The project uses 28 wind turbine generators and is expected to produce about 299 million units of clean electricity each year. That power will go to Tata Power Mumbai Distribution to help meet its Renewable Purchase Obligation targets. TPREL says the project will offset roughly 245 million kg of CO2 annually. With this addition, TPREL's wind portfolio now exceeds 3.9 GW, with over 1.3 GW operational. The company's total renewable utility capacity stands at 11.6 GW, including 6.7 GW operational and 4.9 GW under construction. The project supports Tata Power's goal of reaching 100 percent clean energy generation by 2045.

299 GWh from 100.8 MW nameplate gives a capacity factor around 34 percent. That is decent for onshore wind in that region. Would be useful to know the PPA rate and whether curtailment has been an issue for other projects in Maharashtra.

245 million kg CO2 offset per year is the claim. That works out to about 0.82 kg per kWh. Depends on the grid baseline they used. Would be good to see the methodology.

The RPO angle is the real story here. Mumbai Discom has to buy a certain share of renewables. This project directly serves that obligation. Without RPO mandates, the PPA might not pencil out the same way.
