The North Carolina plant only does 10k tons. That is a tiny fraction of Target's total volume. I wonder what the energy intensity of this chemical recycling process is. If they are just swapping oil for massive electricity loads, the carbon win might be smaller than 85%.

Chemical recycling is expensive. I am curious about the payback period for those plants in NC and Vietnam. If the cost of recycled polyester stays way above virgin prices, these targets will slip unless there is a tax on virgin plastics.
