Tanga Region Reforestation and Carbon Sequestration Projects in Tanzania
tanzaniainsight.comThe Tanga Region in Tanzania is expanding its environmental conservation efforts by planting millions of trees, focusing on a mix of commercial fruit-bearing species and timber to provide economic incentives for local communities. This strategy aims to balance regional economic growth with the protection of critical water sources. Beyond planting, the region has registered four carbon sequestration projects across the Kilindi, Mkinga, Muheza, and Bumbuli districts. To ensure the longevity of these forests, authorities have implemented a strict ban on unauthorized tree cutting and increased monitoring in rural areas.
