Taiwan Northeast Coast Launches Low-Carbon Cycling and Digital Carbon Badge for World Bicycle Day
news.immigration.gov.twThe Northeast and Yilan Coast National Scenic Area Administration in Taiwan launched a low-carbon cycling event series for World Bicycle Day on June 3. The program includes the 'Northeast Coast Sustainable Cyclist Badge,' which uses a digital platform to calculate carbon reductions from cycling along the Old Caoling Circular Bicycle Route. This is Taiwan's first cycling-based carbon reduction calculation game, turning each ride into a measurable environmental contribution. The area has been recognized among the world's Top 100 Green Destinations for ten consecutive years and is a founding member of the Good Travel Alliance. Four themed cycling tours are now open for registration, covering fishing villages, coastal landscapes, geological sites, and Yilan scenery. In September, the 'Extreme Point Slow Travel' event will challenge cyclists to reach Sandiaojiao Lighthouse, Taiwan's easternmost point, while promoting local spending and sustainable tourism practices.
