Taiwan Northeast Coast launches low-carbon cycling and carbon reduction badge for World Bicycle Day
news.immigration.gov.twTaiwan's Northeast and Yilan Coast National Scenic Area Administration launched a low-carbon cycling event for World Bicycle Day on June 3. The program includes a digital carbon reduction calculator called the Northeast Coast Sustainable Cyclist Badge, which tracks emissions saved by cycling the Old Caoling Circular Bicycle Route. The area has been a Top 100 Green Destination for ten years and is part of the Good Travel Alliance promoting sustainable tourism. The administration also introduced four themed cycling tours through fishing villages, coastal landscapes, and geological sites. In September, a slow travel event will challenge cyclists to reach Sandiaojiao Lighthouse, Taiwan's easternmost point. The initiative encourages local spending and measurable environmental contributions through cycling.
