Türkiye has entered a cooperation protocol with the Zero Waste Foundation to integrate circular economy practices into its transport and infrastructure sectors. The initiative focuses on increasing the use of recycled materials in construction and standardizing waste management at airports, ports, and stations. The strategy comes as the transport sector accounts for 17.6 percent of Türkiye's domestic greenhouse gas emissions. Key efforts include expanding rail freight from 5 percent to 22 percent and utilizing electric vehicles for airport operations to lower the national carbon footprint.
