Türkiye is moving toward exporting waste-based biomethane to Europe through a partnership between Uniper and Biotrend. The deal would send gas produced from organic waste toward European buyers, giving Turkey a route into the EU's growing biomethane market. For carbon credit watchers, the interesting part is how these volumes are certified and whether the end use is counted against European renewable gas targets. Biomethane from waste has a clearer lifecycle case than fossil gas, but the climate benefit depends on the feedstock, the methane leakage along the chain, and the accounting rules. If the project relies on EU certificates, the registry and double counting rules will decide how much of the story is real. Worth watching for the offtake terms and the delivery route.
