Syngenta partners with Groundwork BioAg to expand soil carbon credits and biological products in Latin America and Europe
millingmea.comSyngenta has partnered with Groundwork BioAg to scale mycorrhiza-based biological products and soil carbon programs in Latin America and Europe. The deal lets Syngenta sell the products under its own brand while Groundwork BioAg handles manufacturing, digital tools, and the carbon credit program. Farmers growing corn, soybeans, cereals, and sunflowers can improve nutrient and water uptake while earning income from carbon credits. The partnership aims to build soil health and accumulate long-term carbon stocks. Syngenta's chief sustainability officer said the model generates carbon credits that directly benefit farmers and fits the company's goal of higher yields with lower environmental impact. This is a practical example of how agricultural carbon programs can scale through existing supply chains. Separately, Syngenta filed a patent lawsuit against BASF over a corn herbicide in the U.S. market. That case is not directly related to carbon but highlights the competitive dynamics in agricultural inputs as companies also invest in climate-focused products.
