Sydney Composites, a carbon fibre manufacturer in Wetherill Park, is introducing a rapid cycle heat transfer moulding process that cuts production cycle times from four hours to 10 minutes. The project, supported by the Australian Composites Manufacturing CRC and partners, is expected to boost output by 400 to 650 percent while lowering labour, energy, and equipment costs per part. The company makes carbon fibre components for motorsport, renewable energy, medical, and industrial markets. The new method combines several curing processes and will be validated over 12 months, with the first products being composite aerofoil car mirrors tested against conventionally cured parts. For manufacturers, the key takeaway is that faster curing can cut energy intensity and cost, which matters for anyone tracking industrial emissions or looking for low-carbon process upgrades.
