The municipality of Muri bei Bern in Switzerland has launched the BIDI project, a digital voucher system to incentivize local biodiversity efforts. Residents earn Swiss-franc pegged digital rewards for performing conservation tasks, such as removing invasive species and restoring meadows. By using the Hedera Hashgraph network, the program replaces traditional paper certifications with a transparent, on-chain ledger. This approach allows the local government to track environmental progress in real time while supporting the local economy through redeemable vouchers.
