Svante's carbon capture filters win Fast Company World Changing Ideas award for reducing industrial CO2 emissions
fastcompany.comFast Company named Svante Technologies a winner in its World Changing Ideas awards for its carbon dioxide capturing filters that reduce emissions from industrial smokestacks. The company began piloting its filters at a Mercer International pulp mill in Alberta in late 2025. If fully installed, the filters could capture nearly 500,000 tons of CO2 annually. Svante also authorized the first commercial manufacturing facility for its carbon removal filters in May 2025. The hydro-powered plant can produce enough filters to remove 10 million tons of CO2 per year. The project has created almost 300 new jobs in sustainable technology in the Peace River region.
