Surya Roshni Invests Rs 16 Crore in Captive Solar Plants Across Three Manufacturing Sites

Surya Roshni has invested Rs 16 crore to install captive solar power plants at three manufacturing facilities in Malanpur, Kashipur, and Bahadurgarh. The combined capacity is 4 MWp, split between rooftop and ground-mounted systems. The company expects these plants to generate about 4.8 million units of renewable electricity each year and cut annual CO2 emissions by roughly 3,936 tonnes. This is a concrete step toward reducing the carbon footprint of industrial production in India. The investment covers a mix of 1.5 MWp installations at the Kashipur and Malanpur sites and a 1 MWp plant at Bahadurgarh. Each of the larger sites is projected to produce around 1.8 million units annually, while the smaller one should deliver about 1.2 million units. Surya Roshni, which manufactures lighting, cables, fans, steel pipes, and other products across five factories, says the captive solar plants will help it scale clean energy use without relying on grid purchases. For anyone tracking industrial decarbonization in India, this is a straightforward example of a manufacturer using captive renewables to cut both electricity costs and emissions.
