surreynowleader.comThree B.C. businesses won 2026 Surrey and White Rock Environment and Business Awards at a Climate and Competitiveness Forum on Oct. 2. Moment Energy took the large business award for turning retired EV batteries into commercial-scale storage at its Surrey Mega Factory, the largest certified second-life battery facility in the world. AGL Glazing won in the medium category for high-performance building envelopes that cut aluminum waste by 72% and recover up to 97% of fabrication material. ReuseTechBC took the small business award after refurbishing 7,423 devices in 2026 and diverting an estimated 3,029 tonnes of CO2 equivalent. The awards, hosted by the Surrey and White Rock Board of Trade and sponsored by FortisBC, paired the ceremony with a panel on climate competitiveness featuring the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, FortisBC, and Surrey's economic investment department. The winners show how waste reduction, building efficiency, and battery reuse fit into the region's low-carbon economy.
