Sunwoda Digital Battery Passport Finalist for edie Award as EU Battery Regulation Deadline Approaches
macaubusiness.comSunwoda's Digital Battery Passport Solution was a finalist in the Supply Chain & Scope 3 Decarbonisation Project of the Year at the 2026 edie Energy & Tech Awards. The platform combines data from raw material sourcing, manufacturing, use and recycling into one digital record, with modules for traceability, product carbon footprint and compliance. It is designed to help suppliers and manufacturers prepare for the EU Battery Regulation, which will require passports for EV, light transport and industrial batteries above 2 kWh from February 2027. Sunwoda started development in 2023, ran pilots in 2024 and launched the platform in October 2025. The company says it completed five pilots in 2025 and brought 28 key suppliers into carbon management. Phase two is planned for mid-December 2026. The practical question is whether the data stays accurate across the supply chain, since passport rules only work if companies actually trust and verify what suppliers report.
