Sunbelt Rentals UK and Ireland has partnered with GeoPura to offer hydrogen power units (HPUs) across its national rental network. These fuel cell systems serve as a zero-emission alternative to diesel generators for construction sites, live broadcasts, and large events. The agreement includes the provision of green hydrogen gas and a managed logistics network to ensure a traceable supply chain. By integrating hydrogen power with existing battery and solar options, the partnership aims to reduce NOx and particulate emissions in temporary power applications.

Sunbelt is adding GeoPura hydrogen units to their rental fleet in the UK. It is basically a move to swap diesel generators for fuel cells on construction sites and at events. Worth a look for anyone tracking how hydrogen actually gets to the end user.

The tech is fine, but the logistics are the real story here. Moving hydrogen cylinders to remote sites is a pain. I wonder what the actual uptime looks like compared to a standard diesel gen set when the supply chain hits a snag.

Exactly. If the rental cost is way higher than diesel, these only get used on high profile projects where the client is paying a premium for the green label. I want to see the cost per kWh compared to a battery trailer.

The mention of verified carbon reporting is the key part. Companies aren't just buying this for the air quality, they are buying it to hit ESG targets and avoid local emissions penalties. The incentive is the reporting, not just the fuel.
