Summit Carbon Solutions has updated its pipeline route to target a storage site in Wyoming, moving away from its original North Dakota destination. The refined project will connect 27 ethanol plants in Iowa to the new site, scaling back from the initial 2,000 mile plan that included 57 plants across five states. The shift comes amid significant legal challenges and landowner opposition in North Dakota and South Dakota. While the company is pivoting to Wyoming, it maintains that its existing permits in other states provide optionality for future expansion phases of the carbon sequestration network.
