Summit Carbon Solutions has submitted a revised plan to the Iowa Utilities Commission, cutting approximately 200 miles from its proposed carbon capture pipeline. The company will no longer connect to ethanol plants in St. Ansgar, Corning, Hanlontown, or Shenandoah, removing the project from several Iowa counties and affecting roughly 400 landowners. Despite the reduction, Summit still intends to connect 27 Iowa ethanol plants to an existing carbon pipeline in Nebraska. The move comes amid regulatory hurdles in the Dakotas and ongoing legal battles over the use of eminent domain to secure land rights for the project.
