Summit Carbon Solutions has removed eight Iowa counties and approximately 200 miles from its proposed carbon dioxide pipeline route. The company now plans to route the project through Nebraska for sequestration in Wyoming, following permit denials and eminent domain bans in South Dakota. Despite the route changes, Iowa landowners are urging the Iowa Utilities Commission to require a new permit application. Meanwhile, the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association is pushing for a hearing schedule to ensure the state's ethanol industry remains competitive through carbon capture and sequestration.
