Subsea7 has awarded Worley Rosenberg a contract to fabricate subsea structures and pipe spools for Phase 2 of the Northern Lights carbon transport and storage project in Norway. The work supports the expansion of subsea injection infrastructure at the Oygarden site, building on Worley Rosenberg's earlier delivery of subsea components for Phase 1 in 2023. Northern Lights, owned equally by Equinor, Shell, and TotalEnergies, started storing commercial CO2 volumes in August 2025. Phase 2 will raise total injection and storage capacity from 1.5 million metric tons per year to more than 5 million tons, after a final investment decision in March 2025. The added capacity is meant to serve industrial emitters across Europe that ship CO2 for permanent storage under the North Sea seabed. This contract is a concrete sign that the supply chain for cross-border CCS is moving from planning into fabrication.
