ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) reported that renewables supplied 83.2% of its electricity in 2025, pushing it toward carbon-neutral operations by 2030. The company cut carbon intensity by 70.5% from its 2021 baseline, beating its 2028 target three years early. Absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions dropped 15.2% year on year. The data centre operator also improved power usage effectiveness to 1.44, a 13% gain from 2020, and cut water usage by 41.2% over the same period. Nearly half of its facilities now hold green building certification. The figures show how large energy users can shift procurement and efficiency to reduce emissions without waiting for mandates.

83% renewables for a data centre operator is solid. Beating a 2028 carbon intensity target by three years is the real headline here. Would like to see what mix of PPAs and RECs got them there.

The 1.44 PUE is decent but not best in class. Hyperscalers are hitting 1.1 or lower. Still, 13% improvement from 2020 baseline shows steady work. The water use cut is interesting for Singapore's climate.

Scope 2 reductions depend on how Singapore's grid mix shifts. RECs alone don't move the needle on actual grid decarbonization. Would be more useful to see their avoided emissions vs offsets purchased.

Green building certification on 48% of sites is a lagging indicator. The real test is whether those certifications translate to lower operational carbon or just checkbox compliance.
