Strategic Biofuels has received a Class VI sequestration well permit from Louisiana regulators for its Louisiana Green Fuels project. The permit is the third draft Class VI issued by the state and the first for a multi-well injection design. The project will co-locate a 100 MW wood-fired power plant with carbon capture and storage, avoiding the need for long CO2 pipelines. The facility will use 1.3 million tons of forestry waste annually to generate 75 MW of dispatchable power. Captured CO2 will be injected into a reservoir one mile underground with capacity three times the project's initial needs. The project aims to produce over one million tons of durable carbon removal credits per year, marketed through a partnership with Carbon Direct.
