Stora Enso has launched the LVL 2.0 CLT panel, an engineered timber wall system that combines cross-laminated timber with laminated veneer lumber ribs. The product targets mid-rise housing, offices, and schools as a lower-carbon alternative to concrete and steel. Stora Enso says internal lifecycle assessments show significantly lower embodied carbon compared to conventional wall assemblies, positioning the panel for developers working under EU taxonomy rules or LEED and BREEAM certifications. The panels are prefabricated in Finland, Sweden, and Austria, and arrive on site as large format elements that can be installed in under 15 minutes per panel. The company is investing in automation at its mills and targeting North America as a growth region. For investors, the product fits Stora Enso's strategy to shift from paper toward renewable materials and higher margin building solutions. Policy tailwinds in Europe, including embodied carbon requirements in France and Sweden, support the product's market positioning.
